Strictly Come Dancing star Faye Tozer has landed an iconic role, joining the cast of a stage production of 101 Dalmatians.

As per WhatsOnStage, the Steps singer will play the famous role of villain Cruella De Vil in the production, appearing in Norwich, Canterbury, Leicester and Wolverhampton.

"I'm going into my wicked era with this dream role – it really doesn't get much better than Cruella de Vil!" said Tozer in a statement. "When they offered me the part, I just jumped at the chance.

"I love that it's something people probably don't expect me to do and can't wait to create my own version of her for this incredible new musical."

Tozer isn't the only former Strictly star to play Cruella, with Kym Marsh being announced in the role last month. The star, who has also appeared on Coronation Street and Waterloo Road, couldn’t contain her excitement at the announcement.

"I'm over the moon to be joining the cast of 101 Dalmatians playing the iconic Cruella De Vil, has there ever been a more fabulous baddie?!" she said. "Obviously she's a million miles away from me in real life – and my dogs are very glad about that – but being able to bring to life my take on this renowned character is a real treat.

"Douglas [Hodge] and Johnny [McKnight] have written this brilliant new musical filled with songs I'm already finding myself humming under my breath. The 101 Dalmatians story spans generations and I'm sure young and old alike will absolutely love this production."

Tozer will play Cruella on a selection of dates that Marsh won't be appearing on, with further casting still to be announced.
