An 8-year-old boy made it a mission to keep his neighbourhood mailman cool during a heatwave, after the temperature rose to a downright sweltering 37 degrees Celsius.

Carmine McDaniel left out a cooler stuffed with water and Gatorade on the porch of his house in Newport, Virginia, with a note telling the mail carrier to indulge in some refreshments, according to ABC 13News Now.

“It was really hot outside and I didn’t want him to maybe pass out or anything, because they are really important so people can pay their bills,” Carmine told the station.

The home’s security camera captured the moment the mailman discovered the cooler and his “sweet appreciation.”

“Water and Gatorade. Thank God, thank you. Oh my God, yes,” he said in the video as he grabs a couple of ice-cold drinks.

“Camerine and I were aware how hot it was, and he came up with the idea of giving the mailman something to drink,” the boy’s mother told TODAY.com

McDaniel is planning to keep the cooler stocked so other workers can have access to refreshments to help them beat the heat.
