Sweden to provide Ukraine with record $680 million military aid package

Sweden has prepared a $685 million military aid package for Ukraine—the largest Stockholm has ever provided to Kyiv, Swedish Defense Ministry announced on Feb. 20.

The package, valued at SEK 7.1 billion ($685 million), includes the following items:

  • artillery ammunition;

  • 10 CB90 assault speedboats;

  • RBS70 air-defense systems;

  • TOW anti-tank missiles;

  • 20 crew speedboats;

  • underwater weapons;

  • hand grenades;

  • Carl Gustaf 84mm recoilless rifles.

Additionally, Sweden will allocate SEK 1 billion ($96 million) for the purchase of CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Sweden has provided Kyiv with military aid amounting to SEK 30 billion ($2.9 billion).

On Feb. 17, Sweden announced its readiness to provide Ukraine with Gripen fighter jets after its application for NATO membership is formally approved.
