Switch to summer diesel blend brings 8.5 cent decrease across Newfoundland

Diesel customers in Newfoundland will see a steep decrease in the price of the fuel Thursday following the switch to the summer blend of diesel.
The Public Utilities Board lowered the maximum price of diesel by 8.5 cents per litre, putting the price on the Avalon Peninsula at $1.908 per litre. Customers in Labrador West and Churchill Falls will see a decrease of one cent per litre.
Prices vary across the rest of the province, but now range between $1.91 and $2.02 per litre in Newfoundland and between $2.05 and $2.59 per litre in Labrador.
Gasoline increased by 3.5 cents per litre, meaning customers on the Avalon Peninsula will pay a maximum of just under $1.94 per litre. Prices in other parts of Newfoundland range between $1.94 and $2.11 per litre, while prices in Labrador now range between $1.77 and $2.15 per litre.
Home heating oils also decreased alongside diesel. The price of furnace oil lowered by 2.11 cents per litre, while stove oil decreased by 1.25 cents per litre across much of the province and decreased by 0.83 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls.
Customers in Newfoundland will now pay between $1.24 and $1.42 per litre for furnace oil depending on their location. Stove oil prices now range between $1.29 and $1.47 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.41 and $1.94 per litre in Labrador.
Propane increased by 0.3 cents per litre, putting maximum prices between $1.01 and $1.14 per litre in Newfoundland and between 87 cents and $1.32 per litre in Labrador.
