How to talk & dress like a true Beyoncé fan... and not embarrass yourself at AT&T Stadium

Beyoncé will descend on AT&T Stadium Thursday for her much anticipated first concert in North Texas in years.

The Houston native has been performing since the early 1990s and has headlined six global tours, with this Renaissance World Tour being her latest. The superstar has 32 Grammy Awards, and the Renaissance World Tour alone has become the highest-grossing tour by a woman artist in history.

Needless to say, Beyoncé has a fervent fan base so vast that it can spawn global trends and inject new vocabulary and phrases into pop culture.

If you haven’t been able to rock out to Bey since she was in Destiny’s Child, here’s a quick guide to help you fit in with the “BeyHive” crowd.

Bey is bae, but not ‘bae’

First of all, Beyoncé’s nickname “Bey” is pronounced like “bee,” not “bae.”

‘Everybody on Mute’

If you’ve been on TikTok or Instagram Reels, you probably have seen the “Everybody on mute challenge,” or the Beyoncé challenge. It’s something you should know if you’re going to her concert.

The premise is simple. During the song “Energy,” Beyoncé will sing “Look around, everybody on mute,” and that is your cue to be quiet until she starts singing again. On social media, people have started competing over which venue did the best at the challenge.

That is it.

But some fans struggle with it. On Sept. 16, a fan posted to TikTok a video of other audience members screaming during the titular moment.

Another TikTok video from Sept. 9 shows Beyoncé’s reaction to fans screaming and singing after she says on mute.

So beware, you may get side eye from other concertgoers or Beyoncé herself.

Club Renaissance

As part of the Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé fans can buy tickets that have them directly in the center of the circular stage.

According to the Charlotte Observer, concertgoers in Club Renaissance for the August show in North Carolina received a wristband and a silver goodie bag with a fan and a Renaissance World Tour hat.

The tickets are standing-room only, and the current prices for AT&T Stadium range from $1,792 to $3,939 a ticket.

House of Chrome

A shopping frenzy has ensued for silver outfits in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Beyoncé made a request on Instagram for fans to wear silver to her concerts until Sept. 22. Why? Because it’s Bey’s birthday.

She posted on Instagram that “Virgo season is upon us,” and “my birthday wish is to celebrate with you wearing your most fabulous silver fashions to the shows. ... Virgo season together in the house of chrome.”

So fans have been scrambling to find fabulous silver clothes and accessories.

BeyHive

BeyHive is the name given to fans of Beyoncé. It plays on the nickname Queen Bey and beehive.
