Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ resumes in Paris and may outdraw Olympics in one way

When Taylor Swift played seven shows in Australia as part of her “Eras Tour,” it was huge news Down Under when boyfriend Travis Kelce made the trip to see her.

That is certain to be the case when Kelce, the Chiefs tight end, visits Swift on the European leg of the world tour. After a two-month hiatus, the “Eras Tour” is returning Thursday when Swift opens a four-night stay at La Défense Arena in Paris.

If Swift’s past international shows are any indication, some fans will be wearing a No. 87 Chiefs.

One reason we might see fans in Kelce’s jersey (and perhaps Kelce himself) is because Americans have made Swift’s shows in Paris a vacation destination.

Paris is ready for Swift and her fans.

Bloomberg reported that Swift is in one way going to be a bigger draw than the Summer Olympics, which begin July 26 in Paris.

”With a total seating capacity of 40,000 per show, the music event is a small fraction of the size of the Olympic Games,” Bloomberg’s Jenny Che wrote of Swift’s stop in Paris. “And yet the concerts are drawing five times as many Americans as the Paris Olympics, according to figures from New York-based luxury travel agency Embark Beyond. For both events, trips would normally be booked many months in advance.”

While speaking on the television program “Entre Nous,” reporter Solange Mougin said 90% of the visitors to the Paris Olympics are expected to be from France. So for Americans, it seems Swift is more of a draw than the Summer Games.

Mougin added that Paris can expect an economic boost from Swift’s shows.

“There is a Swiftonomics windfall,” Mougin said. “There’s also a lot of hotel rooms that are booked up. But not all Swifties are booking hotels. There are a whole bunch that have already started camping out in front of the concert venue trying to get in first.”

Kelce in Europe?

Paris is the first of 18 European cities in which Swift will play a concert, and Kelce has said he will be making the trip across the pond to see his girlfriend.

The New York Post reported that Kelce already has booked “lavish hotel suites, wine tours in Italy and other day trips to the most romantic places.”

Kelce will be at his Kelce Jam music festival on May 18 and then the Chiefs have Organized Team Activities before mandatory minicamp from June 11-13. Training camp will begin in mid-July, so that will give Kelce time to visit Europe, perhaps with teammate Patrick Mahomes.

Swift will play shows in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland and Italy from mid-June to mid-July. That could be when Kelce arrives in Europe.

The European leg of the “Eras Tour” runs through Aug. 20, then comes a two-month break. Swift will have free time to see the Chiefs in the 2024 season, including the NFL Kickoff Game.
