I-Team: 2 Baltimore-are school districts didn't test water for lead
Two Baltimore-area school districts did not report lead-testing data last year despite requirements under state law. The 11 News I-Team reported last week how new data from the Maryland Department of the Environment shows many K-12 school districts have high levels of lead in their tap water. The data from 2022 shows Maryland public schools had 1,471 tests of tap water reveal levels of lead that exceed the state limit. As bad as the lead-testing numbers look for school districts, lead expert Ruth Ann Norton, CEO of the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative, told the I-Team the true number of lead levels in water is higher than the data shows because districts like Harford and Carroll counties did not report data.
