Teen uses phony gun in robbery of taxi driver, Windsor police say
Windsor police say a 15-year-old is facing a slew of charges after a taxi passenger pointed a gun at the driver to get out of paying.
Police responded to a robbery report on Tuesday after 4 p.m. on Raymo Road.
"Through investigation, officers learned that the suspect took a cab to this location and then pointed a firearm at the driver when it was time to pay for the fare," Windsor police said in a media release Wednesday.
According to police, the suspect ran away but officers found him at a home on Westminster Boulevard.
"Inside the suspect's backpack, officers recovered a replica pellet handgun, baton taser and Molotov cocktail," police said.
One person has been charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm and wearing a disguise with intent. Police cannot release his name bcasue of his age.
The same person is also facing charges related to possession of incendiary material for arson, possession of explosives and a prohibited weapon, as well as failing to comply with a release order.
Police say this is not the youth's first run-in with the law: He was charged earlier this month in a downtown robbery.
