Teenagers robbed at gunpoint Tuesday at Wright Park, Tacoma police say

Two teenagers were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday in Tacoma’s Wright Park, according to police.

Tacoma Police Department officers responded at noon to 407 S. I St., spokesperson Wendy Haddow said. She said a boy and a girl, both 16, were in the park’s bathrooms when three people with handguns and masks entered and stole their cell phones and shoes.

No one was hurt. Police described the robbers as juveniles.

Hours later, an attempted robbery and shooting was reported at Point Defiance Park. Police said a 55-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet.

Haddow said she wasn’t certain whether detectives had found any connection between the two incidents but said they would pursue all avenues of investigation.
