Tens of Thousands March in Munich Against Controversial Police Bill

At least 30,000 people marched in Munich on May 10, protesting legislation tabled by Bavaria’s conservative government that critics say would grant police sweeping powers to spy on private correspondence and homes before a crime had been committed.

A coalition of at least 65 civic and political organizations, including several opposition parties, were involved in the march, according to local media.

Police said the march moved peacefully from Marienplatz before a closing rally at Odeonsplatz, ending at 5pm. Credit: @looklady via Storyful
