Things to do: How Truman’s KC friend ‘Changed History.’ Also: water lanterns, kites

The one-man show “Eddie: The Friendship That Changed History” will run this weekend at the Jewish Community Center’s White Theatre.

The play tells the true story of Eddie Jacobson, an Army buddy, business partner and lifelong friend of President Harry S. Truman who was instrumental in persuading Truman to support the United Nations’ resolution establishing the state of Israel in 1948. A co-production with Kansas City Actors Theatre, it is sponsored by the Truman Library Institute.

Victor Raider-Wexler, who is known for his roles in “Seinfeld,” “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “The King of Queens” and has appeared in Kansas City Actors Theatre and Kansas City Repertory Theatre productions, will star.
