Thunderstorm brings power outages

A lightning bolt strikes the Halifax Common. The green space turns 250 this year.

A thunderstorm rolled across Nova Scotia on Monday, knocking out power to hundreds of people.

Heavy rain, along with thunder and lightning, hit parts of the province. Several counties were under a severe thunderstorm warning.

About 1,700 people in the Bedford and Sackville area, as well as the Antigonish area, were without electricity as of 3:30 p.m.

There were also more than 1,000 customers without power in the Bridgewater area.

As of 7:00 p.m. power was restored throughout the province.
