Tickets still available for Raise the Roof fundraiser
Tickets are still available for fundraising dinner at St. Michael’s Parish Hall this Saturday.
Sharon Ninaber is organizing the ‘Raise The Roof’ fundraising dinner to help children in Uganda.
The evening features a great meal, raffle prizes, a silent auction, a 50-50 draw and a pie auction.
The doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is served at 6 p.m.
Attendees will enjoy a casual evening while learning about the ‘Friends for Life’ organization and the work that this non-government organization does for orphans and vulnerable kids in Uganda.
‘Friends for Life’ is currently building a school for the children, and Saturday’s fundraising dinner will pay for a roof before the rainy season starts in October.
The school, which is being built in Busunju, about 45 minutes from the Ugandan capital city of Kampala, will house 250-300 impoverished children.
Ninaber has advocated for the children in Uganda since moving to Ridgetown in the fall of 2022.
Tickets for the ‘Raise The Roof’ dinner are $20 and available at the Independent News office, Mitton’s Jewellers and from Ninaber.
She is also looking for donations and pies for the auction.
