Carole Baskin has fired back at Cardi B for her response to the Tiger King star’s views on her new music video.

Animal rights activist Baskin, who rose to fame via the Netflix documentary series, criticised Cardi B for the use of big cats in the video for “WAP”.

She speculated that the video for Cardi’s Megan Thee Stallion collaboration had probably used “one of the big cat pimps, who makes a living from beating, shocking and starving cats to make them stand on cue in front of a green screen in a studio”, adding: “That’s never good for the cat.”

Cardi B replied, telling i-D: “I’m not gonna engage with Carole Baskin on that. Like, that’s just ridiculous you know? Like, girl, you killed your goddamn husband.”

The “Bodak Yellow” star was referencing the allegations made against Baskin on Tiger King by zoo owner Joe Exotic.

The theory became the centre of Twitter jokes and memes shortly after the release of the series in April, something Baskin said concerns her.

In response to Cardi B’s comments, she told Mirror Online: ”When most people are called out for their involvement in cruelty to animals they know there is no justification that will persuade others so they have to deflect the conversation to something else.”

Baskin and her husband Howard previously accused Tiger King producers of “betrayal”.

She said she received several death threats from strangers who somehow discovered her phone number shortly after the release of the series in May.

The family of Lewis have sent Baskin a lawsuit, and are offering a $100,000 (£76,500) reward for information on his disappearance.
