Timberline High School in Lacey went into lockdown Thursday after firearm threat

Timberline High School in Lacey went into a brief lockdown on Thursday morning after reports of a photo being shared on Snapchat depicting a student with a firearm on campus.

According to a news release from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the school at 6120 Mullen Road SE at around 11:30 a.m. When they arrived, they worked with the School Resource Officer to locate the student. They were found and it was determined that a weapon was not on campus.

The high school went under a brief lockdown and the nearby Lakes Elementary School was placed on a lockout, where classes continue as normal but no one is allowed in or out of the building. Both the lockdown and lockout were lifted just after noon.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the situation alongside school staff.
