Toddler who drowned in his family’s backyard pool identified by Jackson County Sheriff

A 2-year-old boy who drowned in a Jackson County swimming pool last week has been identified as Carson James Bryant-Ferrantello.

Bryant-Ferrantello drowned in a pool in his own backyard, property records show. Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Bryant-Ferrantello home on E. Parent Road around 11:50 a.m. June 27, The Star previously reported.

Bryant-Ferrantello was discovered in the pool by a family member, according to Jackson County Sherriff Darryl Forté. The toddler was pronounced dead at a local hospital that afternoon.

“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of this young life,” Forté said in a Tuesday statement. “...We continue to urge everyone to take all necessary precautions around standing water to reduce the risks.”

Bryant-Ferrantello was born in Warrensburg, Missouri, before his family moved to Oak Grove, according to an obituary shared by the Bryant-Ferrantello family online. He is survived by five older siblings.

Carson will be the second child his parents Kevin and Marissa will bury, following the death of his brother Jack.

A bubbly child, Carson Bryant-Ferrantello was particularly close with his father, according to the obituary.

“He was always happy and full of life,” Bryant-Ferrantello’s family wrote. “Carson had the prettiest smile and loved all of his siblings.”

Bryant-Ferrantello’s funeral will be at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. His death remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
