Tornado Downs Trees and Power Lines, Rips Off Roofs in Paducah

A tornado touched down in Paducah, Kentucky, on Thursday, March 14, knocking over trees, power lines and damaging property in parts of the town.

The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado, tweeting at 9.31 am that it had “just missed” their office in west Paducah.

Chris Colson, who filmed this footage, told Storyful he got caught up close to the tornado while driving. Torrential rain began beating down on his windshield as he tried to outrun the storm in his car, he said.

Colson said that when the storm suddenly cleared he went to check on his animals, which he said are “like family,” and found them safe. However, the Mount Zion Church and other properties nearby sustained damage. The church housed a daycare center; however, no children were injured, Colson said. Credit: Chris Colson via Storyful
