Environment Canada prepares to weather Pan Am Games

Here's what you need to know for Tuesday, June 2, 2015:

Weather

After a chilly Monday that was well below the average seasonal temperature, things will warm up slight today with a high of 19 C and a mix of sun and cloud expected for the day.

Temperatures will continue to climb through to Friday, with a high of 22 C and sunny skies coming to the GTA tomorrow.

Transit

TTC service is running mostly on time this morning. The elevator from the eastbound platform to concourse bus level at Dundas West station is out of service.

GO Transit trains and buses are running on time. At Burlington station, there will be no elevator access from the south side of the station until fall 2015 because of construction.

Toronto Pearson airport and Billy Bishop airport downtown are reporting that air traffic is moving on time.

Charge in subway fight

Toronto Police have charged a 49-year-old man after another man was allegedly pushed into the side of a moving train at a downtown subway station. Police say the incident took place around 4 p.m. on Sunday at Yonge and Bloor station.

They say there was some kind of altercation before the accused allegedly pushed the victim into the moving train as it was leaving the platform. The victim was found lying unconscious on the platform and was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Kirk Platten is charged with aggravated assault. It's still not clear whether the suspect and victim knew each other.

Closing arguments at high profile trial

Closing arguments are set to begin at the trial of a now 19-year-old man accused of first-degree murder in the death of Const. Garrett Styles in 2011, that also left the man paralyzed.

Then 15, the accused was out for a joyride in his parents mini-van with friends when he was pulled over by Styles for speeding. During the traffic stop, the teen is accused of trying to drive away as Styles reached into the vehicle to grab the steering wheel. The van ended up rolling over onto Styles in a ditch and he died on the way to hospital.

Tetanus fears

News that an unvaccinated Ontario boy is in hospital with a dangerous tetanus infection is prompting calls from worried parents seeking information on how to get their children vaccinated. The tetanus case involves a six-year-old boy from Owen Sound who had never been vaccinated against tetanus, a painful and life-threatening condition better known as lockjaw.

Sex assault charges

Fresh sexual assault charges have been laid against a 69-year-old Toronto man and police say there may be more alleged victims. Dewan Syed Mosiur Reza had earlier been charged with making available sexually explicit material to a person under 16 years of age, invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault and sexual interference with a person under 16.

Toronto police now say that between January 2003 and December 2007, a boy who was between seven and 11 years old at the time, was sexually assaulted by a man at a home day-care.
