Trio ambush and kill foreign politician’s son, cops say. 3 arrested one month later

Three men were arrested one month after the fatal shooting of a Dominican Republic leader’s son at a Texas gas station, authorities said.

Hernan Torres, Sr., 50, Hernan Torres, Jr., 25, and Hernando Torres, 19, were charged with murder in the killing of Luis Alfredo Pacheco on April 1, according to the Houston Police Department.

Pacheco, the son of President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic Alfredo Pacheco, was ambushed by gunfire after he walked out of a Houston convenience store and got into an SUV, police said.

Three others were in the vehicle, officers said, and a 29-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries.

“At that time, a silver (Dodge) Charger and a silver Mercedes Benz approached the SUV. Two males exited the Dodge, one male exited the Mercedes Benz and all three fired multiple shots at the SUV,” police said in a May 7 news release.

The trio then fled the scene and were arrested over a month later, officers said. Investigators shared their photos on social media, asking the public to help identify them.

At the time of the shooting, officers said the attack was “targeted,” according to KPRC. Police did not provide an update on the trio’s motive.

Torres, Jr. and Hernando Torres were arrested May 6 while Torres, Sr. was arrested in Philadelphia on unrelated charges. Torres, Sr. will be taken to Harris County in Texas, police said.

Torres, Jr. and Hernando Torres were booked into Harris County Jail and are awaiting arraignment, according to court records.

Attorney information for the suspects was not listed.
