Trump holds rally on Haley’s turf in South Carolina: Watch live
Former President Trump is slated to hold a campaign rally Saturday in Conway, S.C., just days after he emerged victorious in Nevada and the Virgin Islands.
Trump is hoping to woo voters away from his only remaining rival in the GOP primary race, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, on her home turf. Haley, who has yet to win a primary contest, is also campaigning in the state over the weekend.
The former president, seen as the likely GOP nominee, is leading Haley by double digits in the Palmetto State — 62.5 percent to 30.6 percent — according to polling averages from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.
Ahead of the state’s Feb. 24 primary, Haley has upped her attacks on Trump’s mental fitness, putting out ads criticizing the former president and President Biden as “Grumpy Old Men.” The former governor launched a mobile billboard around the age factor that will make the rounds outside of Trump’s rally on Saturday.
Trump has hit back on the age criticism, claiming earlier this year that he could beat Haley at a competency test.
The former president is expected to give remarks Saturday at 2 p.m. EST.
