TSX opens higher as U.S. data drives gains

TORONTO (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened higher on Wednesday as positive U.S. economic data helped support gains in shares of financial and materials companies. The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index <.GSPTSE> was up 38.91 points, or 0.27 percent, at 14,419.46 shortly after the open. (Reporting by John Tilak; Editing by James Dalgleish)
