Turlock elementary school placed on lockdown because of nearby shooting. Several detained

Cunningham Elementary School in Turlock was placed on lockdown because of a shooting near campus Monday morning, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Linwood Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. to search the area. They found shell casings and a weapon nearby.

Several juvenile suspects were detained, but how many exactly could not be confirmed. Dominique Sanchez, spokeswoman for TPD, said a police report was not yet been completed.

As of late Tuesday morning, officers had not determined which of their suspects allegedly fired the shots. The results of a gunpowder residue test were not completed, according to Williams.

No one was injured in the shooting, which did not happen on the school’s grounds.

Cunningham’s lockdown was lifted at about 11:30 a.m.
