Turner Valley man has a home again thanks to donors

Willie Cracium, 66, has a home again in Turner Valley thanks to donations following a devastating fire last year.

Willie Craciun is back in his home after losing his wife, as well as his house to a fire one year ago.

Elly Craciun died two weeks after the fire broke out in their mobile home in Turner Valley.

The couple had been married for 47 years.

"Can`t dwell on it, but it never leaves you,"said Craciun sitting in his new home built from donations.

A Calgary house-moving company donated the 1,000-square-foot building, while others helped with the foundation, the electrical and plumbing.

"It`s unreal, the generosity of people," said 66-year-old Craciun.

The entire structure was moved onto the site of his former home.

Since his wife's death, Craciun has faced a number of other challenges including suffering a stroke.

He also had a hernia operation and had his foot amputated because of diabetes.

"Worst thing is to feel sorry for yourself, why me and stuff like that — people worse off than me."

Craciun says he appreciates all of the help from others, but he is looking forward to doing much of the work to fix up his new home himself.
