Ukrainian oligarch suspected in high treason to stay in custody for two more months
Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure in the form of detention for Nestor Shufrych, former MP from the banned pro-Russian Opposition Platform - For Life party, for two months, reported media outlet Suspilne on March 13.
The prosecutor requested that former MP should be held in custody without an alternative to bail. Shufrych has been in custody for six months now. He and his lawyers asked to cancel this decision.
On Sep. 15, the SBU searched the Shufrych’s residence.
According to law enforcement officials, they found St. George’s ribbons (one of the Russian propaganda symbols), medals and uniforms of the Russian armed forces at his home, as well as a “document” with a scheme of “autonomy” for Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, which, in particular, had the signature of Putin’s close friend Viktor Medvedchuk.
Shufrych was notified of being suspected of treason.
On the same day, the Pechersk District Court placed the MP under arrest for two months without bail.

According to journalist Yuriy Butusov, Shufrych is a defendant in the case of a Russian spy network created by Vladimir Sivkovych, an FSB officer, former MP and Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council in 2010-2013.
The SBU confirmed that, according to the investigation, Shufrych worked closely with Sivkovych and carried out his tasks, including “subversive activities in the information sphere.”
In July 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation notified Vladimir Sivkovych of suspicion of treason. UP reported that Sivkovych, who is hiding in Russia, was preparing to become the “manager” of the fake occupation “authorities” after the start of the full-scale invasion.
