‘Ultimate Groove.’ Three throwback rappers announce summer concerts at Tri-Cities venues

Entertainment in Tri-Cities through summer 2023 is stacking up. Between music festivals, concert series and events, there are options for everyone. Three more concerts have been announced through host James the Juggernaut, featuring throwback hip hop artists.

Acts include a rapper whose career went stratospheric as a teen, one-half of the Insane Clown Posse and a hitmaker whose song became a party mainstay.

Soulja Boy

Rapper Soulja Boy is coming to Pasco August 6 with an all-ages event at La Tropicana. The rapper made his debut on the top of the charts at 17 years old in 2007 with “Crank That,” and remained on the charts with other hits like “Pretty Boy Swag” and “Kiss Me Thru the Phone.”

Now on the “Soulja World Tour,” the rapper will be in Pasco before performances in Seattle and Spokane. Tickets are on sale now, at $20 for minors and $30 for adults. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the show will start at 8 p.m.

Kirko Bangz

You’ll want to make sure you have some Drank in Your Cup July 14 at Jokers Nightclub, because Kirko Bangz is bringing his “Still Sippin’” Tour to the club. It’s the only performance of the three strictly for 21+. Tickets are available now for $30 or $40 at the door. Meet and greet tickets are $100. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m.

Shaggy 2 Dope

Shaggy 2 Dope of the Insane Clown Posse will be joined by several other artists in “The Quest for the Ultimate Groove” tour with Psychopathic Records. Other artists include DJ Clay, Odd Squad Family, Nathan James, Tierre Diaz and Shaggy the Airhead. Watch them all August 3 at the Uptown Theatre. Tickets are $30 during presale and $40 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m.

Shaggy 2 Dope has been touring on his own since his ICP partner, Violent J, announced his retirement due to medical concerns. The two built a cult following through the late ‘90s and early 2000s, with their fans known as Juggalos. They even marched on Washington in 2017 when their fans were listed as a gang by the FBI and Department of Justice.
