United Way 50/50 draw goes until Aug. 15

United Way Hastings Prince Edward launched its Online Mega 50/50 draw a couple of weeks ago, a new online fundraising initiative for 2024. After the first couple of weeks, over 3,000 tickets have been sold and the pot sits at just under $1,500, with the winner taking home half while the rest goes to United Way HPE. Jennifer Smith, director of community relations with United Way HPE comments on this new initiative.

Tracey Reid, marketing and communications manager with United Way HPE, put out a media release on May 16 about the new Online Mega 50/50 draw. Offering participants the chance to win money while giving back to the community, half the proceeds will go to the winner while United Way HPE will receive the rest of the pot to support programs and services across Hastings Prince Edward.

Brandi Hodge, executive director of United Way HPE says they are thrilled to shared this new fundraising opportunity with their supporters.
“The 50/50 draw not only gives participants the chance to win a cash prize, but it also helps us to continue our vital work in supporting the community,” she says.

The programs address such key issues like poverty, homelessness, and mental health in our communities. The draw is open to everyone over 18 years of age. Tickets can be purchased at www.unitedwayhpe.ca/5050tickets. The tickets cost two for $5, 10 for $10, or 50 for $20, and the draw takes place on Aug. 15 at noon. The winner will be announced on United Way HPE’s website and social media channels.
United Way HPE funds 46 agencies and 55 programs, collaborating with local organizations, the business community, the health sector and individuals to help the community respond more to human service needs, and they support one in three people in our local community.
