Vanderpump Rules Alums Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright Separating After 4 Years of Marriage, Weeks Before Their Bravo Spinoff Debuts

Reality TV stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, whose romance was documented when they both starred on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, have announced they’re separating after four years of marriage.

“Marriages in general are very hard, and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year,” Cartwright said on the couple’s podcast When Reality Hits on Thursday. “Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.” She noted that the split is “still very hard to talk about… I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz, and I love you guys.” (EW.com first reported the news.)

Taylor was an original cast member on Vanderpump Rules, the Bravo reality show about the servers at Lisa Vanderpump’s L.A. restaurant that premiered in 2013. Cartwright joined the cast in Season 4 as Taylor’s girlfriend, and the two got married in 2019 in a ceremony that was documented in a Season 8 episode. The two left the series following that season, though, along with original cast members Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute. The couple shares a son, Cruz, who was born in 2021.

Taylor and Cartwright are set to headline a new Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley, that premieres on Bravo on Mar. 19. The show follows Taylor and Cartwright and their other coupled-up friends (including Doute and her new boyfriend Luke Broderick) as they navigate life and parenthood while living in L.A.’s suburban San Fernando Valley. There’s no word yet on whether Taylor and Cartwright’s separation will affect the production or airing of The Valley, or if the split will be addressed on-screen.
