Victim of encampment attack dies, 2nd-degree murder charges laid: Prince George RCMP
RCMP say the victim of a shooting attack at an encampment in Prince George in January has died.
Police also say second-degree murder charges have been approved against the suspect, 39-year-old Fabian James Charlie, who has been in custody since being arrested following the attack on Jan. 5.
Police say the attack happened at the site of an outreach trailer run by a local non-profit on the 500-block of Ottawa Street in the encampment known as Moccasin Flats.
Charlie was arrested that same day and later charged with one count of attempted murder as the victim was in hospital.
Since the victim has died, that charge has been upgraded, police say.
RCMP said Charlie will remain in custody as the investigation continues.
