Video captures a moose kicking a woman in the head while walking her dog in Alaska

A woman in Alaska is recovering after a moose kicked her in the head while walking her dog, and it was all captured on video.

Tracy Hansen was walking her dog, Gunner, on their daily route they take three times a day in Anchorage on Feb. 16 when she was knocked to the ground, Hansen told KTUU.

She thought someone wasn't paying attention and hit her with a bike as she began to bleed, but when she looked up, she saw a moose she saw earlier on her walk was now in front of her.

"Knowing that the moose had been somewhere behind me, and now here this moose is in front of me, and I'm like 'Was that the moose?'" Hansen told the outlet.

Bystander comes to the rescue

Just as the moose was approaching Hansen and Gunner, Kate Timmons was in nearby car and took out her phone when her husband, who was driving the car, noticed a moose was following someone, she told Storyful.

Timmons began to record the incident, and in the video says this moose "is chasing this person" and shouts "watch out" as the moose begins to runs towards Hansen and is seen kicking her in the head.

After the moose kicked Hansen, Timmons tells the moose to go away and asks Hansen if she was OK as the car pulls over.

"My husband was able to help pull her over the snow bank, so we could get her in the truck with her dog and kind of get her out of the way," Timmons told KTUU. "It happened so fast it was just like, a matter of getting her out of the situation, getting her help."

Moose attack won't stop daily walks

Hansen said her and Timmons' paths crossed at the right moment.

"Kate and I were discussing that the Lord put her in the right place, at the right time to be able to help," Hansen said.

Hansen said Gunner wasn't injured from the attack, but she's still recovering from headaches and bruises on her body, as she had staples placed in her head. But the attack won't stop the duo from their daily walks.
