Deputies Assist in the Release of Recovered Manatee in Florida
Sheriff’s deputies assisted in the release of a manatee back into the wild in St James City, Florida, on October 7, after the animal recovered from injuries sustained when it was hit by a boat.
This footage uploaded by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies helping with the release of the male manatee, named Forky, at Demere Key.
According to the Sheriff’s office, Forky “was captured in March of this year for medical treatement. The manatee was suffering from injuries sustained after being struck by a boat and cold sickness”. Credit: Lee County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
