“The View” star, ex-White House staffer says Donald Trump thinks 'being poor' is the 'absolute worst'
Former White House staffer and current View political prophet Alyssa Farah Griffin has taken a sharp shot at former boss Donald Trump.
Amid a new controversy involving a New York City judge ruling that Trump committed fraud by inflating his various assets, Griffin — who worked on Trump's communications team before resigning in 2020 — had harsh words for a man she said she knows "decently well."

"He thinks that being a loser or being poor or struggling financially, those are the absolute worst things. He never learned that playground lesson we did, that winning isn't everything," Griffin said on Wednesday's episode of the talk show. "I honestly think potentially seeing the sign on Trump Tower taken off of Fifth Avenue would be more devastating to him than sitting in a prison cell, because it says unequivocally he is a loser in the place he always wanted to make it."
After leaving the White House and speaking out against Trump's behavior surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Griffin has maintained staunch opposition to the ex-president's approach to politics, including when news broke of Trump's multiple indictments earlier this year.
Griffin was even interviewed by federal prosecutors in a probe into Trump's actions, and in April spoke on The View about how she thinks he's grappling with the crimes for which he's been accused.
"There's been a bunch of reporting out there that Trump is loving this," Griffin said. "I know him well enough to know that he's not loving this, he's spiraling. He's somebody who, despite his terrible actions, does think about legacy of how he's perceived. And now, his life, whether it's his obituary, is going to say he was indicted, the first American president to be. Right now, his team is freaking out over a potential gag order from the judge, which would prevent him from being able to speak about what happened. And that's what he wants, he wants to go out and frame this his own way and spin the public."
Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.
