“The View” star says it's 'malpractice' if Joe Biden doesn't do live press conference to prove 'mental acuity'

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who previously called for the president to step down, shared her thoughts on his future in the race while on vacation from the talk show.

Conservative talk show personality and alt-face cream visionary Alyssa Farah Griffin might be on a weeklong vacation from her post at The View, but she's still hosting a mini Hot Topics session on social media.

The 35-year-old cohost — who previously worked for Donald Trump's communications team before resigning in 2020 and regularly using her public platform to speak out against him — posted a direct address to "the 'buck up and back [Joe] Biden' crowd" that still supports the president after his disastrous performance during the June 27 debate.

"He owes it to concerned voters to do a press conference," Griffin wrote Tuesday on X. "No script, no prompter, & take questions from press to assuage fears about his mental acuity. The fact that he hasn't yet is malpractice."

Griffin — who previously said Biden's campaign engaged in "malpractice" for not putting Biden in a Super Bowl spot — and cohost Sara Haines called for Biden to bow out of the race on the June 28 broadcast of The View, citing his performance in the debate as an alarming signal of his potential inability to carry out a successful run against Trump at the polls in November.

"It kind of pains me to say this today, but I think President Biden needs to step down and be replaced if we want to defeat Donald Trump in November," Haines said before urging Democrats to stop "twisting the age issue" by making excuses for the 81-year-old political leader.

Griffin added that she was "genuinely in shock" watching the debate, and called Biden's performance "stunningly worse" than she expected.

"Donald Trump was a mess. He lied his way through it, but Joe Biden's performance was so bad that it eclipsed everything that Donald Trump said," Griffin said. "He needs to put [the] country before his own ambition, and he needs to step aside and pass the baton."

One day earlier, cohost Joy Behar, who is also 81, called out Griffin on the air for speculating that Biden could have a "senior moment" during the debate that could hurt his campaign.

"This senior moment business, everybody has a senior moment," Behar said. "It's not fair to the guy if he's thinking and he stutters. He's overcome a lot of disabilities, the poor guy, in his life. Leave him alone."

Following the debate, many in the Democratic party have publicly urged Biden — who fumbled over words and paused many times throughout the CNN matchup against Trump — to allow another liberal contender to seek the presidency in his place.

Vice President Kamala Harris, however, has maintained her support for Biden in recent days. Though she admitted that the debate was "not his finest hour," she said "the outcome of this election cannot be determined by one day in June," the Associated Press reported.

Quentin Fulks, a Biden-Harris campaign aide, told CNN that "obviously there were 90 minutes of a poor debate performance" last week, "but that does not define the record of accomplishments. That does not define the vision that President Biden has."

Biden will next sit down for an interview with Griffin's ABC colleague, Good Morning America personality George Stephanopoulos, on Friday.
