Viewers report mixed experiences with Peacock’s stream of Chiefs-Dolphins game
Peacock has been showing NFL games all season, but those were a streaming option for a game that was also being broadcast on NBC.
But for Saturday night’s AFC Wild Card game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, the NFL had the game stream on Peacock. Unless you lived in Kansas City or Miami, where local TV stations broadcast the game, the only option for watching was to get Peacock.
Peacock paid a reported $110 million to the NFL for the right to stream the game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. It hoped fans would subscribe for the game and then keep it for the other programming.
For many viewers, the game was their first taste of Peacock, and they reported issues with the streaming service. However, others said they had no issues.
Here is a sample of what was being said on X (formerly Twitter).
Geesh, @peacock is terrible. Keeps freezing up, now the video is seconds behind the audio. What a joke. #Dolphins #ChiefsKingdom pic.twitter.com/1vqJ8c902x

Anyone else having issues with the #peacock stream? I watch sports a lot on Peacock and I have never had an issue before. Tonight quality and buffering are both issues.

Mine is fine. I don't think your issues are due to Peacock.

Hey great job @peacock….your audio and video aren’t synced up for this game already. Tonight is going to be 100% a disaster! pic.twitter.com/0c7eoT600H

I may be in the minority here BUT my Peacock stream is crystal clear and I'm having no issues with this broadcast thus far

Your broadcast is a fail. Multiple reports of audio and picture issues. Great money grab @NFL. Paid $2 with student discount and I feel like I got robbed.

I only use it on my apple TV and no issues

Hey @nfl fans, the buffering and out of sync audio on @peacock is nothing new. I watch @wwe events on this service and it is the same. #peacock #wwe #MIAvsKC . The feed on a laptop is also ahead of the feed on TV.

Hey @peacock get your AV guys to fix the focus, buffering and audio/video sync before the next game. SMH. #gobacktonetworktv

Subscribed to Peacock during the World Cup for .99 a month for a year. and kept it for Premier League. No issues watching today’s playoffs game and get to see Tottenham vs Man U tomorrow. #peacock

@peacock @nfl This is the worst quality stream ever. It is like watching with Vaseline on my eyes. Commercials are perfect though. @Chiefs @MiamiDolphins

Never had a problem with @peacock video streaming, until today! Awful.

If you’re gonna make everyone pay to watch a football game, at least make it work.

Our picture is perfect but we have a 70 inch 4ktv so there's that.

A ton of issues with the sound, the commentators sound weird without the stadium ambient noise…

Peacock hasn’t given me any issues and it’s clear. Why is it different for me than everyone else?
