At least for a night. But what a night. The Tony-winner will be the "Voice of God" during tonight's Oscars telecast.

David Alan GrierGrier's smooth, comforting tenor will be the announcer saying people's credits as they go to the stage and what's coming up next.
But the Oscars probably won't make use of Grier's formidable comedic chops, as the show's writers prefer to keep things straightforward, according to former Voice of God Randy Thomas.
"I read the words that are given to me. I don’t try to rewrite anything. I don’t do anything but take the writer’s words and bring them to life on the show. I wish they’d write more comedy for the announcer, but they never seem to," Thomas told EW in 2019.
So don't expect Grier to go off script — the Oscars security don't play.
"They have a hit squad that will take me out immediately with any shenanigans," Grier joked ahead of the ceremony. "Not a lot of blood, you'll just hear a little thump and bloop."
