Vote for the Charlotte-area high school football offensive player of the week: Nov. 24
Here are the nominees for The Charlotte Observer/Deer Park high school football offensive player of the week.
Eligible players are at schools in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Union counties in North Carolina and in York and Lancaster counties in South Carolina.
The weekly winner will receive a trophy from Deer Park, the water company.
This week’s offensive nominees
Dequandre Currence, Butler: In a 49-13 win over Mount Tabor in the third round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs, Currence caught seven passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
Finley Polk, Rock Hill Northwestern: In a 42-41 loss to Greenwood in the third round of the SC 4A playoffs, Folk completed 23-of-35 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns.
Isaac Lee, JM Robinson: In a 50-28 loss to unbeaten Greensboro Dudley in the third round of the NCHSAA 3A playoffs, Lee completed 15-of-28 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns.
Justin Little, Independence: The Patriots’ quarterback completed all eight of his passes for 207 yards and a touchdown in a 34-14 win over previously unbeaten Watauga in the third round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs. Little also ran five times for 23 yards and a touchdown.
Zion Lindsey, Monroe: In a 24-23 loss to Bunker Hill in the third round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs, Lindsey ran 17 times for 180 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 10.6 yards per carry. He also caught a pass for 17 yards.
Jordan Shipp, Providence Day: In a 34-27 come-from-behind win over Georgia’s Rabun Gap in the NCISAA Division I state championship game, Shipp, a UNC recruit, caught seven passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw a 15-yard touchdown pass and had one pass defended on defense.
Rodney Smith, Forest Hills: In a 38-21 win over Community School of Davidson in the third round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs, Smith ran 17 times for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Forest Hills reached the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time in 15 years.
