The Walking Dead Dog Dies: Norman Reedus and More Pay Tribute to Seven, the ‘Best TV Buddy Ever’

The cast and crew of The Walking Dead are paying tribute to one of their own.

Seven, the canine actor who portrayed Dog on the AMC series, has died, as announced Thursday on the show’s official social media accounts. “Rest in peace, Seven,” reads a caption on Instagram, referring to him as The Walking Dead‘s “best boy.”

Over on X (fka Twitter), the show posted a still of Seven with Melissa McBride (aka Carol) with the caption “All dogs go to heaven. Rest in peace, Seven.” Jeffrey Dean Morgan (aka Negan) replied to the show’s announcement on X with three heart emojis — three more hearts than Negan has, we’re pretty sure.

Norman Reedus (aka Daryl) posted his own tribute to his canine co-star in an Instagram story, featuring several behind-the-scenes shots of them together. “Gonna miss [you], Seven,” he wrote. “Best TV buddy ever.”

We also heard from Lynn Collins (aka Leah, Dog’s first owner), who offered her own condolences in the form of an “Oh noooooo” and a crying emoji in the comments of AMC’s Instagram post.

Seven, a Belgian Malinois, joined the AMC drama as Dog in its ninth season.
