In a statement to People, he said: "We are overjoyed to share the news that on April 1, 2024, we welcomed twins into our family! An entirely unexpected and wonderful surprise. Harrison is over the moon to have not one but two new siblings.

"Jennifer and I have joked that he had something to do with this because there’s nothing he likes more than a house full of people."

Singer and model Åkerman announced her pregnancy last year, and in December wrote in an Instagram post: "Slowly but surely growing bigger and bigger over here for the second round and excited to meet our new addition to the family this spring."

Payne and Åkerman also revealed that they are launching a new podcast called California Dreamin’, which will premiere later this month.

The pair said: "We’re excited to share our journey (from the moment we found out we were having twins, to their unique birth and beyond) in our new podcast California Dreamin’. We’ll be talking about our life in LA and how we now juggle our careers with three kids!"

The couple began dating back in 2013 and got engaged in 2018. While the pandemic meant they had to scale back their wedding celebrations, in 2022 they exchanged vows for a second time in a more lavish ceremony.

Payne’s most recent role was in horror movie Imaginary, alongside DeWanda Wise and Taegen Burns, which was released in cinemas last month.

The Walking Dead aired on AMC in the US and STAR on Disney+ in the UK.
