Quebec's agriculture ministry is urging people not to consume several meat products sold by a slaughterhouse in Shawville, Que.

The warning issued Thursday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food covers several cuts of beef, along with cattle offal and sheep carcass products, that were packaged at Les Viandes du Pontiac from March 7 to 11.

The animals were slaughtered without respecting the inspection process and the products may be unsafe to eat, the ministry said in a French-language advisory.

The warning covers all cattle offal products; beef cuts with the tracing numbers 5827, 5828, 5829; and sheep products with the number 504765086.

Anyone who purchased those products should throw them out, even if they smell fine and don't show signs of spoilage, the ministry said.

The warning is a precautionary one, the ministry added, with no cases of illness yet reported.
