How to watch 49ers’ NFL season opener in Sacramento despite blackout: Watch parties, streaming

Some Sacramento fans might not be able to tune into the San Francisco 49ers’ NFL season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday, but don’t lose all hope yet.

Due to a dispute between DirecTV and Nexstar, KTXL-TV, Channel 40, won’t be broadcasting the start of college and NFL football season.

Despite this, there are still some ways you can catch the 49ers game at 10 a.m.

Fans can stream the game online or attend some of the watch parties that local sports bars are hosting. Here’s what to know:

Streaming

NFL+ streams the game live if you have a subscription, which is $6.99 per month. There is a seven-day free trial if you don’t have the app.

You can watch on Hulu or YouTube with an account that has a live games add-on.

FuboTV also has 49ers coverage and offers a free trial.

Watch parties

Some Sacramento sports bars are having watch parties for the game Sunday morning.

The Sacramento Bee called Friday afternoon to confirm details, but be sure to check hours before heading out.
