Watch Kelly Clarkson totally lose it over Cher's new Christmas bop at the Rockefeller Tree Lighting

"That is my favorite song in a very long time!" Clarkson gushed to the crowd.

Believe it: Kelly Clarkson is a bigger Cher fan than you… and she can prove it.

The Chemistry singer was front and center when the Christmas spirit officially swept into New York City at the Rockefeller Tree Lighting on Wednesday night. And who else was there, dazzling the masses from the stage of the Radio City Music Hall rooftop? None other than the 77-year-old pop icon.

Cher managed to steal the spotlight from the 80-foot tree, kicking things off with her new holiday single, “DJ Play a Christmas Song.” Throughout the performance, the Christmas in Rockefeller Center broadcast continuously cut to Clarkson — the event’s host — who didn't miss a beat, knowing every word to the yuletide bop and totally losing it.

“Oh my gosh, you guys,” Clarkson gushed afterward. “Cher just— she put out a Christmas jam, y’all! That song is so good! That is my favorite song in a very long time!”

The performance went off without a hitch, which was a relief after the holiday glitch Cher faced when she performed the very same song at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last week.

The diva later joined forces with longtime friend Darlene Love for a duet of Love's holiday classic “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” which is also featured on Cher’s new Christmas album. The tree lighting's star-studded lineup also included musical guests Barry Manilow, Chloe Bailey, Keke Palmer, Liz Gillies, David Foster, and Katharine McPhee.

Clark rocking along to Cher was particularly triumphant because the last time they showed up on screen together, they were miles apart. Earlier this year, Clarkson recounted the massive disappointment of contracting COVID-19 in December 2022, right before she was supposed to share her Kelly Clarkson Show couch with the "If I Could Turn Back Time" singer for an interview.

"This was the saddest thing ever," she told E! News. “But I was so happy because a lot of people would cancel if I couldn't be there — a lot of times that would happen. It was so cool of her because she came. Guys, this is odd — she sat on a couch with no one here, just a screen, and she did the whole interview. She's incredible."

Adding that the experience would have been “so much cooler in person,” Clarkson vowed to get her idol back on her daytime talk show: “I want a redo, Cher!"

With the anniversary of that first interview fast approaching, here's hoping Cher's return is just around the corner.
