What is known about about today’s hearing?

The committee has not released specific information about today’s hearing, including an agenda or witness list, though the Washington Post reported Wednesday the hearing will reveal recently obtained Secret Service records. The records and footage will highlight that former President Donald Trump was alerted of the violence ensuing at the Capitol and did not attempt to intervene, according to the Post.

According to NPR, the hearing will “take a step back” to spotlight the broader context of the attempts to undo the results of the 2020 election. “It will revisit a lot of themes that we discussed in June and July, but with new information to shine additional light on our findings,” a select committee aide told NPR.

When will the next hearing be?

The next date of the hearings is unknown, as Thursday’s meeting is the final hearing before the upcoming midterm elections in November, and potentially the final public hearing before the special committee releases its report.
