Water levels worry Ste-Anne-de-Sabrevois residents

The residents of Ste-Anne-de-Sabrevois, a small community on the Richelieu River, are watching and waiting for possible flooding.

The Richelieu River has already spilled over onto waterfront properties, causing residents to move vehicles, snowblowers, lawnmowers and other items they want to save to higher ground.

After the floods of 2011, many residents raised their homes to avoid future flood damage. With a few inches of water on the lawns and around the homes of those closest to the river, that proved to be a good decision.

Quebec civil security officials said a change in the wind direction means waters are likely to recede over the next few days. Still, locals are worried.
