This is Whatcom County’s favorite Christmas movie, a nostalgic flick chosen by locals

We asked readers which Christmas movie is their favorite, and the votes are in.

The poll had 34 holiday movie options, including “White Christmas,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and a controversial option, “Die Hard.”

The unscientific poll received 259 votes to find Whatcom County’s favorite Christmas movie.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” received 32 votes, or 12% of the total to be named Whatcom County’s favorite Christmas movie.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” plays 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at the State Theatre in Modesto.

The nostalgic 1946 film follows the life of George Bailey who is visited by an angel who shows him what life would have been like if he had never existed. Throughout the movie, George sees how his life and morals have changed the lives of those around him for the better and reignited his joy for life during Christmas.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video, The Roku Channel, Hulu and Sling TV, or rented for $3.99 on Apple TV, Vudu and Google Play Movies & TV.

In second place, only two votes behind “It’s A Wonderful Life” was “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” with 30 votes.

The 1989 film starring Chevy Chase is known for its many memorable and humorous scenes as it follows Clark Griswold who welcomes many different family members into his home in hopes of a picture-perfect Christmas vacation.

“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” can be streamed on Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and The Roku Channel, and can be rented for $3.99 on Vudu, Google Play Movies & TV and Apple TV.

In third place was “A Christmas Story” with 23 votes, followed by “Elf” with 22 votes and “Die Hard” with 21 votes.
