Here’s where the annual Hilton Head Marathons could affect your Saturday travel plans
Expect more traffic than usual on Hilton Head Island Saturday, with three races likely to cause delays.
The annual Hilton Head Marathon, half marathon and 5k are planned for Saturday. The marathon and half marathon will start at 8 a.m. The majority of the route is along the Cross Island Parkway. The Westbound lanes of the parkway from Arrow Road to Gumtree Road exit will be affected until 2 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said. Both of the on and off ramps at Marshland Road will be closed.
The 5k will start at 8:30, but won’t be on any major roads. The majority of the 5k’s route is along Jarvis Park Road and Pembroke Drive.
“We ask that you plan accordingly and please use caution during the race times,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
