White House news briefing: Watch live
Recorded earlier
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will brief reporters and answer their questions Monday.
The briefing comes as President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have seen increasing calls for a Gaza cease-fire in recent days, even as their positions have in some ways diverged.
The Biden administration has urged the Israeli leadership not to begin a controversial assault on Rafah, which has seen its population swell with displaced Gazans. Netanyahu’s government plans to proceed with an operation against Hamas in the southern Gaza community, though the Israeli forces reportedly will work to move civilians out of harm’s way.
U.S. and Israeli officials are expected to meet virtually Monday.
Monday’s White House news briefing is scheduled to begin at noon EDT.
