White House news briefing: Watch live

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is delivering a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
The Biden administration has continued to urge Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against a major ground operation into the southern Gaza community of Rafah. But the Israeli war cabinet has given no indication that its plans will change as a direct result of pressure from the U.S.
Several Republicans, such as Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), have so far been largely in agreement with the White House’s approach to support for Israel post-Oct. 7. But Graham and others are now calling for President Biden to change course on a pause in shipments of some large munitions pending guarantees for the safety of Palestinian civilians.
The briefing is scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m. EDT.
