Whitewater Region awards paving contract

Cobden -- Whitewater Region (WWR) has awarded almost half a million dollars’ worth of paving work to Greenwood Paving of Pembroke.

The scope of the $458,225.28 project will include double surface treatment (DST) on the 2.8 km stretch of Kohlsmith Road from Queens Line to Kerr Line and the addition of a third layer of surface treatment to the existing DST on 8.5 km of Rapid Road from Gore Line to Gratton Trail. The Greenwood bid was one of two submitted.

The work is expected to be completed in July. Tour de Whitewater cycling event organizers have requested the work be done after that July 13 event.

Township public works staff plan to replace defective culverts and complete brushing and minor ditching on both stretches of road. They will also remove existing DST on Kohlsmith Road and apply new granular base material.
