  • Ariana Grande is rocking a beehive in the promotional images from her upcoming album, Positions.

  • Ari rarely gives her ponytail a break, so this is v refreshing!

Ariana Grande is coming out with a brand-new album—suggestively titled Positions—tomorrow. Are you ready??? If you’re anything like me, the answer is no, but we’re gonna have to buckle TF up and brace ourselves either way. Ari released the official video for the title track ahead of her album’s release, and while you were too busy fangirling over how amazing the song is, you probably missed one major thing: She debuted a new hairdo yesterday!

On Instagram, Ari’s hairstylist Josh Liu posted some beauty shots of Ari to his page and showed her sporting a modern take on a ’60s favorite—the beehive (no, not the fandom 🐝).

To breathe new life into the hairstyle, Josh let Ari’s hair cascade down her shoulders and accessorized with a black satin padded headband. The result? Ultra chic. Jackie O. would be so proud.

Another thing to note about this hairstyle is that Ari’s hair is actually out and not in her trademark sky-high ponytail. Having that much tension is not the best for the scalp, but Ari has a reason it’s her go-to style.

In 2016, Ari addressed haters of her signature pony and explained why it’s a staple for her: “Every time I put my hair up, it’s like a surprise. Like, I forget how much I love it, and then I tie it back and I’m like, ‘I love this look! Ooh, girl!’ Every time I tie it up is like the first time. It’s like true love.”

Excited to see what other new looks Ari is testing out for her upcoming era!
