Whoopi Goldberg calls out “The View” cohosts passing 'inappropriate' secret note to each other on air
"You guys are passing notes on television?" Alyssa Farah Griffin asked after Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar seemingly passed a note to each other during the show.
The Whoopi Goldberg War Room — typically manned from the Oscar-winning actress' private quarters, with past operations targeting the Diablo video games and invasions of terroristic cacti — launched its latest investigation on home turf as the Ghost performer called out her cohosts on The View for passing a secret note to each other during Wednesday's live broadcast.
As the moderator introduced a Hot Topic about a woman who "took to Reddit after she and a colleague drove eight hours to their coworker's wedding," Goldberg paused mid-sentence to look over at Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, the latter of whom giggled in her seat and hung her head to the table.
"You guys are passing notes on television?" Alyssa Farah Griffin said through laughter. "I feel like I'm in church right now," Sara Haines quipped from the other end of the table.
Goldberg then asked the pair to "share it with the rest of the class," prompting a firm response from Hostin.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, we can't," Hostin said. "Joy and I, you know, we say things that are inappropriate."
Behar quickly tried to shush the legal expert, and told her not to "go any further" and that "silence is golden" in the moment.
Griffin then teed up Goldberg to continue with the discussion, and the show continued as usual.
EW has reached out to a representative for The View to uncover the contents of the covert correspondence that Goldberg's intelligence operations failed to reveal during the show.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
