Woman flees corner store robbery in YYT, police still searching

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is looking for a female suspect following a robbery at Marie's Mini Mart on Thorburn Road in St. John's Friday.

Police said at about 11:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of an alleged robbery at the store, where a woman concealed her identity and demanded cash and other items from a lone store clerk who was working.

Police said the suspect was successful in stealing a small amount of property before leaving.

No arrests have been made and police said the matter has been handed over to its Criminal Investigation Division.

Police said the employee did not receive any injuries as a result of the incident.
